From fine troy ounce to price per gram
Silver is quoted per fine troy ounce, or 31.1035 grams of pure silver. Dividing by this weight gives the price per gram. Multiplying by your item's purity and weight gives its material value.
For scale: a 60-gram piece of cutlery marked 835 contains around 50 grams of fine silver. The rest is multiplication by the daily rate, which we do with you.
