585 gold carries the 585 or 14 K hallmark. It is usually inside the ring or on the necklace clasp. Lower finenesses are marked 333 (8 carat) and higher ones 750 (18 carat). Even pale White gold also comes in 585. The hallmark determines the fineness, not the colour.
