585 gold (14 carat)
585 gold contains 58.5% pure gold and is the most popular gold alloy for jewellery in Germany.
585 gold consists of 58.5% pure gold. The rest is additional metals such as copper and silver that determine colour and hardness. It is robust enough for everyday jewellery and retains its shine for decades.
Its balance of value and durability makes 585 the most common hallmark on rings, necklaces, bracelets and earrings in Germany. It is 14 carat, correspondingly marked 14K in English-speaking countries.
Colour says nothing about value. 585 white, red and yellow gold all contain exactly 585 parts pure gold per thousand, differing only in the additional metals. White gold is usually rhodium-plated as well, and this very thin layer is not gold.
Worked example for 585 gold
At a gold price of 120,00 € per gram of fine gold, one gram of 585 gold contains pure gold worth 70,20 €. A typical 4 gram wedding ring therefore comes to 280,80 €, and a 25 gram curb chain to 1.755,00 €.
We pay 90 to 95 % of spot for gold jewellery. The necklace in this example therefore brings approximately 1.579,50 to 1.667,25 €. We first deduct stones, steel clasps and spring rings, because only the gold is paid for.

Bring everything, including single earrings, broken necklaces and rings that no longer fit. Condition has no bearing on material value and no appointment is needed.
When there are several alloys, we weigh them separately. Your 585 items keep their own higher price per gram instead of being grouped with lower-value pieces. For a mixed jewellery box, this is the most important difference from a flat-rate offer.
