Face value, material value, collector value
Face value is the number stamped on a coin, usually irrelevant to purchasing. Material value comes from metal content and today's rate. Collector value depends on rarity, year and condition.
These three values can differ widely. A 10 DM coin with a face value of just over five euros may contain several times that in silver, while a rare year can be worth substantially more.
