The 4Cs of a diamond
The 4Cs describe diamonds by Carat (weight), Color (colour), Clarity and Cut. Together they help you compare.
Carat describes weight. Color grades colour. Clarity describes internal and external characteristics. Cut concerns the quality of the cutting, including its effect on light within the stone.
A high grade in one category alone does not automatically make a diamond the right choice. Consider the features together and compare details assessed under the same standards.
Cut is more than shape
Round or oval describes shape. Cut quality also concerns proportions and workmanship. A grading report helps compare specific details rather than promotional terms. Origin and the grading system used should be explicitly stated.
