A small hallmark. Real value.
Metal, hallmark and weight are enough for an initial estimate. We take a closer look when we examine your items in person.
What does my hallmark mean?
Understand what 585, 750 or 925 means.
585 means 58.5% fine gold; 750 means 75%. For silver, 925 is a common fineness. The hallmark is an indication; we check the item's authenticity ourselves.
What counts towards the weight?
Separate the metal from other components.
The weight should refer to the precious metal. Stones, springs and other components do not count. A kitchen scale can give you an idea, but is often inaccurate for light items.
Why a price range?
Understand market value and payout.
The material value follows the market price. The possible payout also reflects our buying rates and the type of item. We check weight, fineness and condition in person before you decide.

How the precious metals calculator works
Precious metal value follows a simple formula: current market price, or spot price, × fineness × weight. Our calculator does the maths for you using live gold, silver, platinum and palladium prices. All you need is your item's hallmark, such as 585, 750 or 925, and its weight in grams.
You first see a possible payout based on our published buying rates. The breakdown shows pure material value at the market price. For coins, designer jewellery and luxury watches, collector value may put the actual buying price even higher. We confirm the binding price after a brief, free inspection at our Nordhorn shop.
Precious metals you can calculate
- Calculate gold value
- From 333 old gold and 585 wedding rings to 999 fine gold and investment bars. Ideal for scrap gold, jewellery, dental gold, Krugerrand or Maple Leaf.
- Calculate silver value
- Silver tableware and cutlery (800, 835, 925), 999 fine silver, bullion coins and bars. We identify silver-plated items marked 90 or 100 in store.
- Calculate platinum and palladium value
- Platinum jewellery and wedding rings (950), palladium from jewellery and industry, and investment bars. We also correctly determine the proportion in mixed dental gold alloys.
